Virtual workshop on transition risk analysis resource toolkit

As part of the South Africa-UK PACT project on Aligning South Africa’s climate-related financial disclosure with global best practice, a user-friendly climate-related risk analysis support toolkit has been developed with the objective of generating South Africa-specific information to support climate-related financial risk assessments and disclosure, including the use of  scenario analysis.

The toolkit has been designed to 1) assist asset managers in identifying appropriate data available to support transition risk assessment at a portfolio and asset level, 2) assist asset managers with improving the quality of their climate-related financial disclosures, and 3) assist pension funds with the integration of climate-related financial information within their governance and investment processes to achieve improved investment outcomes over the longer-term. Going forward, these factors will play an increasing role in where capital is allocated as countries continue to ramp up their efforts to reach their commitments made under the Paris Agreement. The toolkit includes guidance documents, training manuals and data sources to help identify climate-related risks and opportunities. The focus is on transition risk, but data sources to assist with physical risk assessment will be highlighted.
